The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has urged the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to resign if the task of presiding over the affairs of the country is becoming too difficult for him.
Pastor Emmanuel Kure, Secretary General of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and founder of the Throneroom Christian Ministry, gave the admonition while speaking at a prayer conference over the weekend in Kafanchan, Jama’s Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Christian cleric furthermore urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to choose another presidential candidate in 2019 or face the consequences because, in his own submission, Buhari has failed Nigerians.
Reacting to the mass murder being perpetrated by herdsmen across the country and the ignorance of the government in putting a stop to the killings, he termed the unfortunate act of the government as a clear indication that Buhari lacks the capacity to tackle Nigeria’s security situation. Kure urged the president to use his wisdom to address the security challenges so it doesn’t degenerate to a complete security collapse.
The cleric, while condemning the recent attacks on Plateau communities which resulted in the killing of over 100 people, said the unfortunate incident should be a wake-up call in view of those killed in just a day.
Kure also advises the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to be alert and take preemptive measures to avoid the spread of the Plateau attacks to Southern Kaduna. According to him, the pattern of previous attacks was that once communities in Plateau State get attacked, Southern Kaduna communities would be attacked too.
Buttressing Nigerian’s yearning for pragmatic security measures that would stop the killings across the country, he stressed that the president has to provide the security.
He appealed to the youth in Plateau State to refrain from venting out their anger, as it would only result in more bloodshed. He also appealed to all stakeholders in the state to unite for the sake of their survival.
Former Chaplain of the Aso Rock Chapel, Rev. Williams Okoye, in his own sermon stated that the church is expected to play a pivotal role in the rebirth, reformation, and reconstruction of the country through a re-definition of the nation’s morality, code of conduct, and discipline.
“We must, therefore, strive to make the fear of God and righteousness the foundation upon which this nation is built if we expect to see the turnaround in the fortunes of our beloved nation,” Rev. Okoye said.
The monthly prayer conference, tagged as the “Wings of the spirit,” was attended by two former information ministers, Prof. Jerry Gana and Labaran Maku, a former Plateau State governor, Senator Jonah Jang, as well as senators, members of the House of Representatives and state assembly members from Kaduna, Plateau, Taraba and Nasarawa States.
Also in attendance were guests from Zimbabwe, Cameroon, and other African and Caribbean countries.
