Welcome back! I hope sincerely that those of us who needed to work with the depression test materials provided in the last lesson have engaged fully with it, and to others who are fit healthwise to continue. Here is the deal. What you do off a job is the determiner of how far you will go on the job. This is not idleness but engagement with all the required factors for a smooth takeoff. It is worthy of mention here that the place of vision this time involves the use of our visual capacities to see what tomorrow holds for us in relation to our career.
Since you are the driver of any career that you may have chosen, suffice it to say here therefore that your self image and the way you perceive it is of utmost importance and cardinal to the achievement of the overall success that awaits you. In spite of all the potential that you are created with and being loaded with on a daily basis, the need for you to see your future well cannot be overemphasized.
There was a man by the name of Jeremiah in the Bible. God declared to him that before he was formed in the womb, he was known, and before he was born, he had been ordained as a prophet over the nations. This revelation, as promising and exhilarating as it is, did not substitute for the place of seeing well what the future holds through the process of planning, preparation, and expectation. A wise man once said that, “The will to win is nothing without the will to prepare to win.”
Like we discussed earlier, there is always a need to be met to become relevant, and the more of the needs of many others that we’re able to meet, the more we will be able to get out of life. This is a journey that we cannot make by ourselves. You will need yourself, first and foremost, and others for no one will be able to talk to you as much as you will do for yourself, and what you see and say about yourself goes a long way in determining how you behave and what you become eventually.
It is not where you are starting from that is a problem, but where and how you finish. If you see yourself as able and available, good for you because nothing substitutes for your presence in the journey. You’ve got to be present all the time.
Limitations don’t limit us unless we allow them to, and you can throw off all the limitations put on you by others, which include relational, leadership, and skill limitations. How clear and bright your vision is to yourself Is your capacity, and the belief you have in yourself to deliver is your ability. The capacity you have and your ability paint your picture, and your picture determines your future.
Let me now recap. Four major steps have been discussed so far, and these include the search for a vision or career, the discovery of a vision or career, the possible obstacles to contend with and overcome, and now the need for self-appreciation vis a vis understanding self-image and the development of a strong belief system in both the vision and self. We also did emphasize the need to ask for help, and this calls for good human relations as well as tapping from the main source or all the available resources for succeeding.
I believe this prayer will work for you, and it is from no other person than the finest king of Israel, King David, who himself, as the youngest among his siblings, overcame all man-made limitations to become the king of Israel. “Lord God, help my friends to see themselves as You see them, not as others do. To focus on what can be accomplished with You, and not what can be accomplished without You, and to rise above the limitations placed on them by others so that they might help others rise above their limitations. Amen.”
In conclusion, I admonish you not to get discouraged by what goes on in your country or places of residence, and draw strength from the knowledge that you have about God’s absolute ownership of the universe, and within nothing can be a barrier to your breakthroughs. Remember these words of admonition also from John Johnson, which say “Men and women are limited not by the place of their birth, not by the color of their skin, but by the size of their hope.”
