The Anglican Church, Diocese of Lagos, and the Redeemed Christian Church of God have decided to stage a crusade as part of activities to mark the centenary celebration of the Anglican Church.
Rev. Dr Humphery Olumakaiye, Bishop of the diocese, disclosed the information on Tuesday after a meeting with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, at the Redemption Camp, Ogun State.
Olumakaiye said, “The Diocese of Lagos is the premier diocese in the church of Nigeria, African Communion, and mother to over 160 dioceses and many other denominations. And being the bishop of the diocese ordained on July 30, 2018, I decided to visit Pa Adeboye, who is one of the foremost Christian leaders in this country.
“The visit was also to fulfil the five-fold mandate that I have for the diocese and Christendom, which are priestly, pastoral, prophetic, prayer and praise ministries.”
“We had a very fruitful discussion and I told him that a unity crusade would be coming up next year to mark the centenary anniversary of the Lagos Diocese and we wanted him to be part of the crusade which would involve many denominations and about 160 Anglican dioceses across the country. The unity crusade has been slated for next year by the grace of God.”
Olumakaiye disclosed that the conclusion reached was exciting as both churches have agreed to collaborate and the RCCG General Overseer has pledged his support and participation during the crusade schedule for next year.
