The unfortunate suicide of a minister of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Micheal Arowosaiye, on Tuesday in Abuja, has started generating ill-feelings amongst Nigerians.

Notable among the reactions to the incident is that of the former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, who took to Twitter to air his displeasure.

Fani-Kayode tweeted: “For a church to sit by and do nothing when one of its young ministers cannot pay his rent is sad. For them to turn their backs on him and drive him into such a state of frustration, despair and desperation that he ends up committing suicide is dam*n right condemnable. RCCG why?”

While churches these days, rake in huge amounts of money on a daily basis, people like Feni-Kayode are surprised about how the church was unable to assist Michael with his challenges.

Another reaction was that of MJ Gold who was of the opinion that for committing suicide, Michael was unqualified to be a minister, while in another view, Attorney Oforleta stated that churches these days lack empathy for their members.

Confirming the incident to reporters, the Acting Spokesman, Federal Capital Territory Police Command, ASP Gajere Danjuma, disclosed that Arowosaiye, reportedly hung himself with his belt.
