The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger state Chapter has promised the Scripture Union of Nigeria it’s Support in a bid to strengthen Christianity in the state and country.
The Niger State Chapter Chairman, Reverend Matthias Echioda disclosed this recently at the Re-Union Fellowship with churches by the Scripture Union of Nigeria in Minna, Authority reports.
Echioda said, “with the efforts made so far by SU, in bringing the churches together, CAN is ready to offer support it can by the grace of God, with the whole of our heart to support the SU, to further strengthen the churches in Minna the more.
“The churches need unity now more than ever before.” He said.
The Head of Department, Mission’s of Scripture Union, Pastor Kingsley Edozie gave a brief history of SU, in country, explaining that, they are not a church but an international inter-denominational and non-denominational fellowship that started in Britain in 1867 and came to Nigeria in 1885.
The HOD said, “we want to set up a Mega fellowship center or what we called in our language a pilgrims group that will be trained to visit children and young people in their school and neighborhood, that will organise children and young people camps and rallies and also organise BRP and outreaches in the hinter land areas to reach and raised indigenous disciples.
“As SU, we don’t conduct baptised, burial, give any communion or wed anybody. We are into Bible reading promotion, camps and conference, so that children, young people and family could be properly nurtured and disciples so that they can become men and women of influence in the church and the society.”
