“In every age there comes a time when a leader must come forward to meet the need of the hour. Therefore there is no potential leader who does not have an opportunity to make a positive difference in society, tragically there are times when a leader does not rise to the hour”- Winston Churchill
Sunday Igboho a veteran who spearheads the war against the Fulani invasion of the southwest towns and villages using the forest as their homes and hideouts in one of his tours of all the states in the southwest, made the above declaration in Abeokuta the Ogun State capital.
We understand from the Bible that God can use anything to bring His will to pass. However, the purpose for man’s creation was for the declaration for the praise of God but when man fails in this important responsibility, God can raise even the stones to praise Him and bring His will to pass. The Fulani have been a major concern to not only the people in the southwest of Nigeria but to those in almost all the parts of the country. They unleash mayhem and have constituted themselves into what fit in for description as “local terrorists”. They engage themselves in armed banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and armed robbery in almost all parts of the country.

These heinous crimes in every part of the country cannot be controverted as it has become an indisputable fact. What makes these criminal acts of this group of people worrisome and alarming is the impunity with which they carry them out with no agents of the government making any arrest as long as the Fulani were involved. The difference between the ways by which the Fulani settle themselves down in any part of the country of their choice which is different from that of the Hausa’s is that the Hausas live within the vicinity of their host while the Fulani live in the forest far away from the vicinity of their native host.
More often than not, several cases of criminal act involving the Fulani were overlooked by the security agent of government and this has made the situation of their host especially the yoruba in the southwest very pathetic. So many precious lives until now had been lost through the nefarious activities of the Fulani herdsmen until now when the suffering has become unbearable. Recall that these problems started as clashes between the Fulani herdsmen and farmers who happened to be host to the Fulani.

The Fulani were grazing freely on people’s farmland and destroying their crops with impunity and the clashes that resulted from the Fulani herdsmen who were always armed with AK-47 guns and the helpless and armless farmers had led to the loss of so many lives and valuables and with no single arrest made by the security agents of government. What we see now is a movement organized by the aggrieved yoruba people and aftermath of the local defense organization established by the governors of the south-west states called “Amotekun”.
Sunday Igboho is a member of this defense group called “Amotekun” and a man with a lion’s heart who is committed not only to the assignments of the local defense groups called “Amotekun” but the overall liberation of the entire yoruba race from the injustices suffered in the hands of the leaders of the entity called Nigeria who also have affinity with the Fulani herdsmen.
Noteworthy also is the fact that Mr. Sunday Igboho has gone beyond all limitation and barriers of religion, leadership, relational and skills to set the ball rolling for the emancipation of the yoruba race. An important discovery that has come to be made in humanity through the emergence of this warrior and the true son of ODUDUWA is that you don’t need the giant of a person to be the giant of a faith.

On a final note, wisdom demands that we as a people and Nigerians should respect the past and mistrust the presence if we wish to provide for the safety of the future. Whose prayers and support does this man of valour in the person of Sunday Igboho deserve or deserve not? THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR RESTRUCTURING THE ENTITY CALLED NIGERIA AND IT IS NOW OR NEVER. God bless Nigeria.
